So I definitely been learning and researching the difference between doubling double die and Machine Doubling and it's really a hard subject for me but I'm understanding a little more now. I did some research on this quarter once I noticed the waves and the way they looked and then it also kind of went up to the dragon as well some of the letters a little bit but if y'all could tell me what y'all think that'd be great thank you. I took a bunch of pictures to try to get the best quality that I could it's not the easiest thing to do but I hope that they are good enough to see
Note some of the first images are showing something. (Probably Machine Doubling) Why do I say that? Note the later images of that area, the glare is hiding what we are seeing on that area. So what does that mean? If means that those devices were flattened by Machine Doubling. When the light is stronger, it turns to glare on flat surfaces. If this were a doubled die, then the devices would be enlarged, not reduced in side. Machine Doubling removed the contour of the devices. Thus when the light is stronger, it reflects. That is what I'm seeing on your coin. The area affected on that date, would be the center of the design, not the outer devices on the coins design. (where Machine Doubling happens most of the time)
