Hi everyone,
I just got this nice Alexander III drachm from a reputable dealer.

It is 16mm and 4.11g, and I do not see any signs of casting. It looks good in hand.

However, I am not sure of where it was minted. I think that it is a posthumous issue, and there are mint marks to the left of Zeus and under his throne. I am unable to identify the symbol under the throne, but the symbol to the field left of Zeus looks like the mintmark of Miletos (Ionia). Or could this be a Celtic issue?

Any help IDing the mint of this coin would be appreciated!

Nice coin. It is Greek, Alexander the Great coinage, either lifetime or posthumous with Heracles/Zeus. I have a couple from Miletus but not the same monogram.

Try searching Miletus drachms on acsearch.info. There's lots of them there! One of the main reference works is by Price but I don't have it.

I looked a bit on acsearch.info. Looks like yours, same monogram and chair style, Price 2124-2129.

livingwater - Wonderful! Thank you so much for your help. I am glad to see that I was on the right track with Miletus.
