Quote: Now I'm thinking Lincoln might give QEII a run for the money (so to speak). By my math, 543.3 billion Lincoln cents have been minted through 2021. Adding up all the QEII coins minted across all the countries would be quite a project.

I keep a spreadsheet with mintages and I just checked the UK QEII decimal circulation coins only and that adds up to over 64 billion to start with. Then you have the non circulation and pre -decimals. When I get time I might check more.

As a former math teacher I used to share the following with my kids to better understand what they were talking about with the word billion: No one can (practically) count to a billion in their lifetime b/c 1 billion seconds is 31 years long and 8 months long! We have to take time to have a life. One billion minutes ago around the time Jesus was walking the earth! Staggering numbers! So let's not even try comprehending the national debt

I get the feeling QE2 will make it a good race.

Just checked Aussie coins. I mostly collect circulation coins, and the total on decimal only is over 16 billion.

Hong Kong 1 Cent ND (1961 - 1971). Reverse blank.
Inordinately fascinated by bits of metal with strange markings and figures

Quote: Just did another quick sum on the QEII Canadian 1 cent coins, over 324 billion. Thanks for looking into that. Is it possibly all denominations though? That averages over 4.6 billion cents per year of her reign and the largest yearly mintage I see is around 1.2 billion. Edit:: From this http://www.saskatooncoinclub.ca/art...intages.html imported into a spreadsheet and editing text out of a bunch of cells with more than one quantity, I got a total of around 61 billion Canadian coins minted 1953-2021. Sorry to distract from the topic.

I think A'Blinkin' would have QEII beat in total # of coins minted..just a guess though. Be sure to count all the coins that are from countries that are no longer under UK rule or protection! ie; HONG KONG. Here's a 1985 Queen Elizabeth the Second Two Dollar Hong Kong coin.
