I came across a 1964 nickel no mint mark, looks like the nickel rubbed off the back, copper color back and normal front.
It is very worn no steps, just wanted to know more about it?
Is it worth hanging on to?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

@the, first welcome to CCF. Second, often times coins show surface staining from chemical or environmental exposure. I suspect that I'd what you have here. Knowing the weight would help to confirm you don't have some sort of off-metal strike.

A nickel is a copper/nickel alloy so the nickel cannot rub off.
What you have is probably environmental toning.
Photo is too out of focus to tell more. Spend it.
