A broken post is on many letters such as P, D, O , B etc.
They add no value to the coin as they are quite common.

I agree as well, except .....

a point of clarification about a broken post, as noted by one other reply. A broken post is not a "BIE". A "BIE" type variety is a die break located between the letters of LIBERTY.

I don't search quarters much so I do have a question whether these broken posts on quarters are as common on Lincoln cents.
Does anyone who searches quarters have some insight on how common they actually are?
