I'm determined to try to figure out how to figure the amount of rotation.
I ( think ) I figured it out ( maybe?)

Like you I used the picture of the reverse of your coin from your flip.
Not the one from the mirror.

From looking at Bats quarter shot in the mirror the drummer was almost upright but the words were backwards. His rotation was 135 degrees CCW.

Now I hope I'm getting the hang of it.
Yours does look approximately 165ish rotated more or less but ( CW )

Follow the little red arrow.

Does someone have that graphic to show the overlay on a die clash? That might help show what normal is if you post it here in this thread to show how the normal cent looks. It will show the top of the head on obverse laying where ONE CENT is on the reverse, etc.

I think the very first pics at tip top of thread might be causing confusion. Too bad you cannot edit those. The mirror pic shows it good tho.

Rob, the very first diagram you had was correct, as far as orientation, compared to mine, it's true orientation but you had the arrow pointing at the wrong end. Imagine my coin being oriented as it should be, then rotate it CW, approximately 160 to 165 degrees, then you have what I've got. Do not pay attention to the mirrored pic, the only reason for a pic like that, is to PROVE you have a rotated die. The pic to pay attention to, is the very first one I posted, with the side by side of the obverse level, in a flip and then flip the coin, end over end, like you would for any U.S. circulated coin and the reverse, as it truly is. Hope this helps you understand. I think the mirrored (prove you have it, pic), just confused things for some....

I have gotten no reply from silviosi. If you would like the coin for investigatory and study reasons, I would be glad to ship it to you and you can keep it, the postage is worth more than the coin, in it's condition.

CentSeeker, the first pic is really the only one you should be paying attention to. The mirrored pic is hurting this thread, in my opinion. The very first pic is what the true orientation is, of the obverse and reverse, side by side and shows the actual rotation.

@MAKE, you are right. Your first pic was Ok in my opinion, but not all the peoples can have three dimension image and projections. Here become confusing. Any way your coin it is something. With this deg, me I put in question how can happened?!!? Small rotations for modern coins strike are know at the mint, and they accept 5 deg and less on the production parameters, but not more. Your has more then 20 deg., which bypass more then expected. For me it is a Mint error. The die shaft was not well hold or intentionally who made the holding die want to has this error. I opt more for shaft because I never see another.

This rotation could not be confound with the Mint processes before 1990. I think we have to start been less stabbers and adapt to new ways to Mint coins.

silviosi, you still have first option on this coin, it's yours to have and to investigate. I don't want it, found it and now I'm good. I just like finding things. I do not know how or why it happened and to some extent, don't care. You, on the other hand, do. Let me send it to you and you investigate.
