new member here..I have a 1992 d cent exactly like this I've had it in my possession for many years and never really thought anything about it till just recently when I started going through some of my things..i myself am new to collecting and would like to know the legitimacy of this coin. did you ever find out anything else on it.
There is really nothing else to find out about it. It is a coin that has been plated after it left the mint and it is worth 1 cent. We have seen these quite often on the forum. A lot of them were caused by high school experiments
Something that just occurred, it that if it were a Close AM, It could have been made from two different years of cents and altered like a Magician coin, then plated with another color to hide the seam on the coin? If I can think it, it could be done. If they had copper plated it, it could be hidden that way. So the first test if you question one of these, is the weight issue. (keep this in mind before buying a fake one?)
