Glad you were able to get these pics posted. They are above average so well done. On this cent, I'm seeing DDD and a little bit of zinc showing on the mintmark.

If there is any gray showing on the reverse above America, that could be split plating. (Mintmark area) But most of what we see in DDD. Stage 1.5 Showing the beginnings of the Ridge Ring, but also the fields showing the affected area on the fields. So with this information, we are starting to see the progression of the DDD. I always imagined the die polishing on the fields that turn stage 1 into stage 2. But with this coin, it is a half step between the two stages without the die polishing. Interesting. We are learning something more on this subject. (probably no one else is noticing this yet)

Thanks for the replies. I am going to need to read up on the information given because I am unfamiliar with some of the terminology. In simple terms, is the "double" appearance in the United Staes field actually considered DD? I found the pennies in my 45 year collections of pennies. Most look very close to uncirculated. You guys seem to be a great bunch and I appreciate your help.

Probably we are the only ones that have noticed this yet, to this depth on this subject. Just something I've observed on these coins. While there is no premium for these, it is just knowing what is happening during the die aging process.

So you don't think the "ST" on TRUST is double? Other coins appear to have a DD "LIBERTY". Again..Thanks for the information.

The devices are normal sized. The DDD is the area on the fields (not on the devices) that are showing the die aging. When the dies progress the direction is towards the closest rim and doesn't affect the devices, but the fields: Note the direction on date. (to the right) and on Liberty (to the left). Just DDD that is what you are seeing on your coin on both sides of the coin.
