That being said, I think there ended up being many DDs in '72 and someone else might see something that I do not see. Please look again and I'll try to get better pics I got a headache so I quiet for tonight but here's a little better pic to show the 9 7 and 2. Mainly the 9 and the indent. SamCoin Pillar of the Community United States 3237 Posts	Posted 09/13/2022 12:30 am You are looking for the right things, but this is master die doubling that affected about half of all 1972 cents minted at all three mints. It was created by the same process that leads to doubled dies, but because it affected the master die, all hubs made from that master die and all dies made from those hubs have the same doubling, making it not at all rare.
