Aside from the mushy details and misshapen stars, the mintmarks are in the wrong place. The seller using gloves is special, but there is no guarantee of authenticity, no coin weights specified, and no returns.

A fantastic bargain....if they were real. I hope the buyer is pleased.

Looks like both auctions are ended.

I was looking for recent sold listings and those popped up Spence. They should be in holders selling for north of $10K at auction. They're not "make an offer" raw coins. And to have both the 1871 CC AND the 1872 CC available at the same time, from the same dealer, in the same condition, has a very bad smell.

Ah sorry now I understand. I was thinking you were looking for help in getting them shut down.

Yeah, aside from the wrong CC mintmark placement, they both have that Chinese gray gunmetal color which makes me wonder...

The 1871 and 1872 both use the 1870 C reverse, which has a wide spaced mintmark. The fakers used the wrong 1870 CC for their reverse. The coins have other problems, but that is the most obvious.

Here's another one. This time the seller is much wordier in describing his treasure. He provides 12 photos too. And he mentions the sale of another one of these in June, and offers a special discount. But he does not guarantee authenticity and of course there are no returns.

The only possible loophole is that he specifies a weight of 26.73 grams, and allows returns for misrepresentation. From past experience ebay would have to assist in getting a refund. Subject to his 20% restocking fee of course.

So many rare CC dollars for sale these days. How soon until they start offering them in fake slabs?

Note that both dates have the same "nick" in the rim by the middle of the "U" in United on the reverse. Most likely a flaw in the "die" used to make the fakes. 2 different year CC dollars unlikely to have the same post strike flaw so looks they were both struck from the same fake die.

Coins that have that much value HAVE to be slabbed by PCGS or NGC before I'll believe they are real.
