How can we tell? Note the width is wider than the tops of the other devices. That tells us that the top of the device was filled with grease and the wider part was not fill, thus the wider device.

No big deal but it is a cent not a penny. America has no pennies

@ODDGUY: Penny it is a legal name for the 1 cent coin and has the part of the history of US behind. Quote: The U.S. Mint's official name for the coin is "cent"[1] and the U.S. Treasury's official name is "one cent piece".[2] The colloquial term penny derives from the British coin of the same name, which occupies a similar place in the British system. Pennies is the plural form (not to be confused with pence, which refers to the unit of currency).

Agree with grease issue. Trying to steer clear of the penny vs cent debate.

@oddguy - your thoughts, please, on these everyday American expressions - a penny for your thoughts, take a penny and leave a penny, a penny saved is a penny earned, pennies from heaven, as bright as a new penny, a bad penny always turns up, penny ante, penny pincher - the list goes on.

I am sorry if I got under someones skin by saying America uses cent term on their coin and not penny. I thought this was a educational forum. I can quote a million slang words but they would not be the correct meaning or spelling of the original word. and as far as I know, the word penny is written on countries other than the U.S. I will not express my view on this anymore and am sorry to cause a sensitive debate. I respect all the members here and value their opinion.

We are just using the wording that they U.S. Mint uses. When you look at albums they are following the Mints term: Cent for these. Only on Business things (non collectors) do we see Pennies. So we just use the proper terms that collectors use.
