Just dug this up and would be very grateful for any help in identifying. My guess it is a Japanese Bita Sen, given the air bubbles in the casting, but the metal content seems reasonable quality. Reverse of coin is blank. Closest I can find in Hartill is 2.65 but the top of the left character is off-center and top center "flames" of right character seem to be tilting left instead of vertical.

I think Hartill mentioned that most of the Japanese made Yuanfeng Tongbao (Genpo Tsuho in Japanese) were in regular or clerical script rather than seal script. So this is probably a Song Dynasty import. Looks like it's the larger 2 cash version in 29mm diameter (H#16.223).

Many thanks for the feedback. The coin is only 24mm diameter but could be a shrunk copy of the #16.223?

Many thanks. That seems spot on apart from any casting imperfections.
