I am unfamiliar with any banknotes except those I earn and then use to spend. I have been offered this at €80.

Any thoughts would be appreciated! It feels old in hand, which I know isn't dispositive: there are no indications of a dotmatrix pattern in the printing... But, again, I know nothing about these.

It appears to be genuine, but it also appears to have been washed and possibly mounted at one time. Personally I would prefer a problem-free note.

@ Steve, I feel similar. If I got the note at a stupid low price I'd consider it, but the note at 80 euro with the problems doesn't seem worth it. I do not own a single note and will wait to find a better example.

I am also using the forum to help me with identifying these and figuring them out since I've never handled one before.

Looking at the obverse of this note, compared to some similar examples, it is a shame it was mounted st some point. I wonder if a conservator could remove the residue.

(Edit) I sent some pictures to a conservator friend in Italy; he says it's likely little can be done.

What indicates that the note was washed?

The signs of being washed are the lightness of the serial number, the lightness of the second signature and the overall look of the note. Unmolested examples have darker paper, as shown on this uncirculated example.
