Not a Class VI, what you are seeing is Die Deterioration Doubling. That die was tired and worn out.

The OP was actually asking about class viii (tilted), not class vi, [I am guessing] on the IT in UNITED.

Unfortunately, I believe the answer is the same

Neither class VIII, nor class VI (or any other for that matter). Just DDD.

Well DDD is seen on Single squeeze die coins. This is way before this DDD area. This is just extreme die wear. Note the devices are moving towards the rim of the coin. After a few hundred thousand more strike, the devices will reach the rim:

Just like the die that struck this coin. Not a doubled die, but a normal die, with exreme die wear.

DDD as I mentioned is seen on the New die processes and affects the fields, not the devices. On the Pre-Single squeeze coins, the die wear affected the devices that face the rim. When the die ages a lot, then the devices will start their march towards the rim over the fields. Both are extreme die wear. But on DDD, they fields are the first devices affected, then the Ridge Ring appears. Then die polishing to remove the Ridge Ring and the the fields start of reduce on the Liberty area. During all of this, the fields are affected. (devices are only affected by the die polishing to remove the Ridge Ring) Why does it happen this way? Well with the higher profile on the older style dies and the lower profiles of the single squeeze dies, they are affected differently. Hope this helps.
Beginning of DDD? What is that? 4 stage aging process for the dies having DDD

CoopHome: Can DDD be seen on pre Single Squeeze Dies? the die wear is common on both, but the fields are affected on the Single squeeze dies first and not the devices. On the higher profile coins, the devices that face the rim move towards the rim.
