All the 1988 Cents were Wide AMs. There is a difference on the 'G' and AME on America that is the differences:
RDV-005 Common that year and the REV-006 is the ones that should have been used starting in 1989. But started earlier because of the RDV-005 dies wearing out and they started using the RDV-006 dies early, creating a year variety for the RDV-006 dies on the 1988 cents. Differences?
Mintmarks:

Keep in mind that the RDV-005 dies were wearing out, so if the FG is weak, then it is not a RDV-006 as they will be strong with no wear on these examples.
AME on AMERICA:
This is the easiest ways to tell the two apart. The RDV-006 dies had wider/flatter devices on them. CoopHome: [b]How to tell the RDV-005 and RDV-006 dies on the 1988 reverse cents? mintmark and AME areas will look different. easiest way is to look at the AME areas. (rounded or flat?)
