I found a pretty good nickel that is barely blank. You can see the face of Jefferson on the obverse side of the coin. On the reverse you can see the image of the Monticello. Is it worth getting graded? Any honest opinions on this coin would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Not an error, it is PMD.
That quarter has been ground down.
Just a damaged coin worth 25 cents
if you can get someone to accept it.

It's a ground down nickel. Very post-strike damage. Not worth grading.

How can you tell wear downed coin? It's too smooth around the edges. Could it have not completely been pressed in the machine? It doesn't even have a rim.

It is a nickel that was sanded or ground down.
You can tell this because of the lack of the rim.
You see, when a blank is sent through the upsetting mill, a proto rim is formed. This proto rim is raised above the surface of the Planchet at that point, then it is struck and the rest of the rim is formed along with the other device elements.
