Hi, I am new to this coin thing. I have read a few things about coin weights. I have a 1996 D quarter that weighs 5.79g which is much more than my 2022 quarter (5.66g) I am holding onto. What does this big difference in weight mean? Thank you!

There is a Weight Tolerance (acceptable variance) for minted coins. I believe your example is just within tolerance.

Well 5.67g it the average weight for quarters, with a variance of .19g the min/max would be 5.48 - 5.59 5.86grams So your coin is at the upper end on 'normal'.

Upper end within tolerance is 5.67 + 0.19 = 5.86 g.
