ok on this 1977 D cent why does it look like he is a man with many faces did he come from the mint like this if so I hop they send him to the 3rd fkoor he needs help

That's just badly damaged, scraped, gouged. No way to say how it happened.

Definitely PMD, doesn't really matter how.
There is no way for that to happen when the coin was struck.

Yes, post-strike damage caused in circulation. Coin has had a rough go of it. If coins could talk.

I keep all my heavily damaged coins just for the cool "if coins could talk" factor, and I also keep all my copper cents - so I'd put this one out of the misery of continued circulation!

i keep most all of my change so I feel sorry for my kids if when I pass but I have been trying to sort threw it all with your guys help and I'm starting to feel like you guys are family even though I haven't met any of you yet
