I live a little more than an hour northwest of Philadelphia and use Wells Fargo bank. I haven't been able to get half dollars for months. I have checked all of the Wells Fargo's in the area. I don't mind opening an account at another bank, any ideas of what bank would be good?

It was a different location of the country, a different denomination, and quite a number of years ago, but I used to have the best luck CRHing with a small credit union that only had a couple locations. I used one of the large multinationals as my dump bank. I'm interested to hear what others think as perhaps this strategy no longer works.

It has been a long time for me as well, but this is what I was going to recommend.

I cycle across three major banks with good success. I typically don't bother with boxes of halves, but I do pick up rolled halves when available, which do appear in decent quantity.

I would personally recommend a smaller bank or credit union. I use a smaller bank, and they are amazing.

I bank with Chase, and I can get as many boxes of halves as I want.

The idea of using a small local bank and dumping at a major one seems good.

I just hit up whatever banks I drive near regardless of if I have an acct or not. I very rarely find anything silver or interesting so not sure anyone should follow my strategy.

If your bank never has 1/2s, you can help them out of the shortage by dumping there.
