Hmmm, not a fan of this one. You have posted more eye-appealing coins before.

Those look like scans so I'll reserve judgment. One concern is the spot below Miss Liberty's chin looks like it was hit by an eraser. Other than that she has excellent remaining detail and is high VF, possibly even XF if deemed weakly struck.

i never know how assess the strike weakness and how it applies to grade on these. my thought on it was always that thats the way it came from the mint so my grades tend to be a little higher.

i have the coin at XF40. if they net for strike then probably VF30 area

I was at VF-30, but I see what others are saying about the weak strike.

Look like these were struck using terminal state dies given the large die cracks plainly visible on both the obverse and reverse. That seems consistent with not being able to apply enough pressure for a full strike on this coin on the large screw presses still in use in 1799.

I don't know anything about these, but isn't this the BB-169 B-21? I scrolled through Heritage looking for that obvious die crack through 1799. Yours also has the repunched star 2 and the reverse die crack at AM. From what I can see the BB-165 has none of those PUPs. (Here's a HA example https://coins.ha.com/itm/early-doll...nail-071515)

I get a security warning when I click on that link so I'm not going there. Look up the BB-169 on Heritage and the die cracks both sides match the subject coin, possible a die state IV. I don't see anything on a BB-165 that matches. I have no knowledge in this area other than comparing image details.

Looking att he photos, it seems like a great match. The Heritage coin does not show the reverse die crack across OF AMERICA but the coin's description also says that there is a later die state for BB-169: "An even later die state exists for BB-169, with a narrow Cud forming above F in OF on the reverse, unseen on this coin." Maybe that later die state also has the long crack seen on the reverse of this coin.

I think this would go at XF-40. Center weakness is strike. The rim lettering / stars are bold.
