Moonshine, Hello, I do believe that while this coin is worn, the "notches" on the word " IN " are a dead give a way for a doubled die, which one would be hard for me to judge being very worn and the fact that there are 8-11 different varieties of this DDO. Maybe some more talent will be able to help confirm or pinpoint this for you, good luck, Mike... possible # 3 or 8?

Definitely a doubled die... too worn for me to be able to identify which exactly.

Congrats on the find!

Positive it is a DDO. I will be interested in hearing from Chuck. It seems that there is nice devise spread indicating DD. don't have his book to study right now but something seems interesting. Above the horizontal leg of "2", there appears to be the doubling . From memory, that is die nine, 1do-009, I think. However, I don't think there is suppose to be any other doubling as this coin seems to indicate.

Anxious to hear from coppercoins.

Jim

Great find.

You might check the markers for this die:
http://coppercoins.com/lincoln/dies...ie_state=mds
See if any of the markers match. From your images I think I can see a dot above the last T in TRUST. Also check WE to see the spread there.

3 & 8 are similar, but note the differences between the WE & The top of the 9's on both and bottoms of the S on TRUST. They are different from these two dies.

It appears the die is in late/VLDS die state and the look looses it crispness at that point and get mushy.

I'm pretty sure this one is a doubled die even if it;s worn and you could tell it;s not Die Deterioration Doubling on this one there's notching on God we trust and separation. I would say it;s a doubled die nice one
Thanks jazzSectar
