I'm not a fan of toned coins, but this one certainly has some appeal to me.

Currently just over $5000 bid including buyers premium, with a day to go. For an MS63. I like attractive toning, and that one is very nice, but I just can't see how someone could spend that kind of money for an otherwise common coin...

The Most Expensive thing in the world by weight is original toning on a coin... that's a catalogue-cover coin

A catalog coin on a date that rarely comes nicely toned.
1921's had a different planchet preparation and rinse than earlier dates, and are usually found with 'crackled' toning like Peace dollars.
For someone putting together a date set of toners, this particular piece is a real prize.
Beautiful coin, and one that will hold it's value.

hokiefan_82: simply, because they can. Original Toning collectors are almost cult-like; and truth be told: I knew a couple of very good toning artists, and what's on the '21s you can't "manufacture". It's the Real Deal

Very attractive toning in this condition.
But I still prefer blast white.
