Looks AU53 and you could try Verdi-Gone, Acetone, and/or Goo Gone on the spotting. I've had good luck with all three. Long (1-2 month) olive oil soaks can help also.

AU50 with the rim hit on the reverse...as long as it cleans up nicely otherwise and there isn't anything being hidden by the crud.

When she arrives I'll start with the olive soak. And if that doesn't work I try something with alittle more kick. Thanks for all of you input.

Do not use olive oil on Lincoln cents. It's vegetable based, bad for your coins. It will rot and stain your coin. Use pure mineral oil instead. It is not veggie based and will not harm your coins. Whomever started the whole thing with olive oil however many years ago it was really got something bad started that's really hard to fix.

To all: STOP using olive oil on coins!!

I would try distilled water and then xylene before anything else.

EDIT - Grade: EF40 at best

I don't see how you think that is AU. I say XF-45 at the very best. There just isn't enough luster to be AU. Still a great coin Chris.

Thanks to all for the information. She arrived yesterday, and I'll start trying to remove the green. I see grade at EF-AU. I'll post more pictures once she is ready for 2 x 2 (her permanant home).

Looks like you have some verdigris. This coin would be an excellent candidate for VERDI-GONE™.

Thanks coppercoins! I was just about to use olive oil on a ground found 16-S Lincoln. I'll buy some mineral oil instead.

I tried oven cleaner once on a coin I hated and didn't care about, that had corrosion. It took the green of once and for all, I'll tell ya that.
