I have an 1893-s Morgan dollar and wanted to know if anyone here had info on getting the coin graded, certified, what it might be worth or any other info on the coin. The coin was found by my father in Washington in the 1990's. It does have two small dings on the rim where it was hit with a shovel (it was found in our yard while weeding) I'm not that good on a computer but I'll try to get pictures posted. ANY info would be appreciated. Thanks

sensi! Pictures would be great, as we would need to see the condition Depending on grade, the 1893-s is a pretty penny.

Pretty penny is an understatement. This is THE key morgan in the entire Morgan dollar series. Just the fact that you can read the date and mintmark probably puts this coin over $2,000. That is if its authentic. Good pictures would be the best way for any of us to tell you if the coin is real and how the coin grades. And whatever you do, don't clean it.

I'm not sure what it is that I'm doing wrong but I cant get any pictures to upload to the forum . My only way of showing pics is through E-mail so if anyone is interested let me know. Otherwise I really appreciate people taking time out of there lives to answer my questions. Thanks

For uploading to the forum the pictures need to be under 100k in size. If they are larger, go to http://www.photobucket.com, open an account if you don't have one already, upload them there, and copy/paste the resulting "img" tags it gives you when you hover the mouse over the picture you uploaded.

definitely. These are highly counterfeited but I suspect if it was a ground find, chances are it is authentic if it is a 93-S. This coin would be a "problem" coin with the ding and more than likely, environmental damage. I would suggest PCGS's new genuine service for problem coins. This would be considered a high end piece even with the damage.

VF Details. Assuming it's authentic, it's a $3000+ coin. Get it to a TPG for authentication, stat.
