Ok... I hope I have the right forum topic. I started collecting pennies in 1963 when I got married. I now have hundreds of coins, but my question is about the two completed binders. I have all key dates and several exceptional errors. 1909 thru about 1940 are circulated and there on thru 1972 are uncirculated. 1909 S VDB, 1922, 1931S, 1914 D, etc. are there. Question is.. should I try to sell as complete set or break up and list somewhere? Thanks..

Can we start with some pics (both sides) of the better dates, like '09-SVDB, '09-S, '14-D and '31-S? to the CCF!

Yes, a few good pictures would be a great help for us to help you sort out what you have.

Generally speaking, most buyers aren't looking to buy a full set, but rather to fill in some missing issues. So the quality of your individual keys and semi-keys is most important!

Are the photos good enough for an opinion? Thanks

yes the photos are fine. Nice key date/mint coins too. That 14-D is in great shape, in fact, I'm liking all of these. Wait for grading experts to have a gander at these - they will give you a good idea of that you have.

No doubt in my mind that these keys should be sold individually.

At this point, those are nice examples. Selling individually should work very well.

Appreciate all the input. It's going to be tough breaking up the set. There are a bunch of other really nice mint and error coins in the binders. One of the things that concerns me is the fact that I have a very nice 1931 S listed on ebay with OBO... 2 views and no watches. On well.. Thanks again...I'll give the matter some thought.

Selling sets with the key dates like you have in the wild will be a mistake. In general no one sell the key dates in sets. Your coins a OK but not the best I see in my life. So conclusion: Key dates sell separately..

Interesting topic... I am at the stage where I want to sell off my completed sets. I did sell a couple of complete sets at a local show over the weekend. Was interesting in that most dealers want the keys, but if you sell the key coins in the set you are left with most of a set you almost have to give away at low ball prices. It is difficult to say what is best to do. If you try to sell the set, the price of the keys seems to be lowered to accommodate the rest of the purchase. My Lincoln set is UNC back to the late 20s and the 09 S VDB is certified @ 64 RB. Told interested dealers it all goes as a set. I am choosing not to split it up. Good luck to the OP on your selling decision.....
