Just a beat-up old cent with circulation marks that resemble real things, like animal shapes in the clouds.

Probably just damage but it could be a counter stamp 5? Not likely.

Counterstamp

A stamp or impression placed on a coin after it has left the Mint of origin. Counterstamps were frequently used as advertising gimmicks on large cents and other coins. The counterstamp leaves a permanent impression on the metal and may hurt the value of the coin. It may also help the value, as in the case of an Ephriam Brasher counterstamp.

Damage can be created on a coin. If one side of the coin is affected post strike, then they opposite side will show a push out on the other side. That is what I'm seeing on your coin. If it was a die issue, then there would be a lot of these out there. (Not just one) No others found, then it is probably just coin damage. If it were on the die, it would have been on every coin struck with those dies.
