Could an acetone bath give the details grading?

I think perhaps the biggest mistake after an acetone bath is the "rubbing" after she comes out...it will give a "shine" to the coin that is not natural. Believe me...I've done it...and I learned my leasson the hard way. Coin collecting tuition...learn it on the less expensive ones first though : )~ smat

Thank you all for your input. Perhaps someone can point out the evidence of being cleaned to help understand and pick it up in the future.

Well the reverse looks cleaned because of that pinkish area in the field middle of coin . There is definitely some rub there . VF-20 Details .

So that could be rubbed after acetone bath so it appears. I will ask 7 and take 6. Fair? It is a loser for me any way it goes. I am gaining alot of insight here, yet still have alot to learn. Such as degradation of the grade due to various detail ratings, cleaned coin identification. Eye appeal is a major factor. My future decisions will be influenced by what I have picked up here. My next post will throw a grade at you all and see if I am catching on. Thanks for your guidance.

Quote: cleaned coin identification it takes years of experience looking at coin to determine if a coin was cleaned. a lot of times you are not going to see scratches or marks of a physical cleaning but more the missing original surfaces from being dipped or cleaned in another method that does not mark the coin. those are the easy ones. but then you need to learn to difference between die polish lines and PMD from a cleaning. on this coin its a little more difficult and not entirely sure that it was cleaned, however, it has the markers for a lightly cleaned coin. on the obverse fields, especially the left field, the lighter areas surrounded by darker areas. it looks like the coin was rubbed here. which removed some of the toning. on the reverse its more prevalent especially below CENT. its not a given that this coin was cleaned but it leans more toward that than not.

I just thought I would give a follow up. Submitted images after coin in hand. Those originally submitted by seller differ somewhat upon delivery and viewed in hand. Wondering if it changes anything.
