1962 D Lincoln OBV Misaligned Error Help Grade

Yokozuna Pillar of the Community United States 4618 Posts	Posted 10/26/2022 11:17 pm to the CCF! It is a very slightly MisAligned Die strike (MAD) but not enough to cause weakness on the reverse. The weakness in the central section of the Lincoln Monument is common on cents due to the deep engraving on the obverse die. A slight shift in the die gap, strike pressure or even the weight of the planchet could have caused this. Looking at the reverse, you can see a very faint inverted 'ghost' image of Lincoln's portrait from the obverse. His head shows in the field just under the monument and his shoulder and vest area shows in the steps, columns and roof. Lincoln's shoulders and chest can cause weakness in the lettering of E PLURIBUS UNUM and even STATES oF, but this coin doesn't seem to show it.
