I revisited this 78S which I had thought was a VAM 7, but now not sure. I also had some questions for those of you more experienced than I.

Please bear with me.

- the obv and rev photos make the overall coin look awful in my opinion with all the scratches but under magnification of different areas the coin looks great, almost PL. Are these actually from a cleaning?

- are the close up areas around the eye, wing, eagle top and leafs polishing scratches?

- I've found the chip in front of the eye and reverse leaf and right wing, both areas show die polishing

- the mm appears centered but slightly high, top half not clearly defined

- the 'r' in Trust is broke as is the 4th right star

- the coin is a 7tf, paf short nock

- there is a long diagonal die scratch over TY in Liberty

- I cannot make out any clear doubling

- I do not understand what Wing Engraving means

I always try to answer my own questions before seeking CCF help. Is this a VAM 7?

Thanks for your assistance and explanations!

It's not VAM-7. I went through all the short nocks, with the attributions you had, and none matched the nice gouge you have through LIBERTY, that I point to in the pic. If you send it in, make note of this, with your submission. As far as the scratches go, there are some that are die scratches but this coin was cleaned. The question you had in the other thread is VAMWorld 2.0, as is where you would also submit it to.

It's a forum, like any other, numbnutz and good folks, alike. I had a good relationship with Mitch, he helped me a lot. If you cannot find him, let me know and I'll do some digging. Leroy Van Allen, is one of two, who started VAMWorld, who took submissions, for years and recently past the torch to another and I'm not familiar with him, so not sure what to tell you, other than Leroy would have not left it in someones hands, that was not worthy.

VSS or anacs can give you the correct VAM that your coin is The acronyms VSS stands for variety slabbing service and anacs of course is a grading service The fee is six to $10 depending on the service you use with you paying postage in both directions
