I would highly suggest picking up a copy of the current
RedBook, which is about $15. While it does have pricing info, the true value is in the density of information packed into a relatively small book that can be extremely convenient and easily accessible. It would help you learn about the various type sets, varieties, some very basic grading guidelines, mintages, history, etc. I don't buy a new one every year, but I just picked up the 2023 version which has QR codes for some of the sets that link to high quality images for grading. It would definitely help you out tremendously in becoming familiar with
US coins and is well worth the $15! There's certainly plenty of other books you can look into if you decide to get really serious about collecting and/or buying and selling
US coins, but you'd be hard pressed to find a better starting place if you could only buy one book!
