Went through $300 of 50 cent coins today and came across this:

2004-50-Cent:-Planchet-Error-Or-Post-Mint-Damage?

2004-50-Cent:-Planchet-Error-Or-Post-Mint-Damage?

Is this a genuine error or post mint damage? I highly doubt one would be able to cut off a sliver of a coin considering it's probably illegal, but is this actually a genuine error, and if so, how much could I sell it for?

It looks like a minor straight clip which would
be an incomplete planchet, not an error but
Photos are a little dark to be 100% positive.

Better pics would help, along with a straight-on shot of the edge.

With a clipped edge, I would normally expect to see a 'blakesley effect' on the opposite edge.
Nothing noticeable there, but I agreed a better picture with good lighting, and an edge shot would help.

Does the "blakesley effect" occur on planchets that are not round?
