If any of you are interested in military challenge coins, I would enjoy sharing the ones I acquired during my term of service. It is not all inclusive. Many have been misplaced over the years or lost during the moments challenged. None more dear to my heart than my first one. 3/325 Airborne Battlion Combat Team (ABCT). 1987-1994. Vicenza,Italy. Limited issue numbered on edge. Now the home of the reactivated renowned 173rd ABN. MY first 1SGT'S unit during Viet Nam. Three tours. I will provide images of what I have left from those 12yrs yrs. of service if this is your intrest. I would trade them all and then some for that original 3/325 ABCT any day. You will see the "Operation Provide Comfort" coin which I participated in. Imagine my closest experience to combat during 12yrs,,2 months and 19 days as 11BC23P was to comfort people. Kurt's in northern Iraq. I am wiser now and thankful I never had to experience what those that followed had to endure. I could not wait for it to happen in those days. Sorry for the rant. Let me know if you want any of these. Wanna see some? FA coins here acquired during my DS days @ Ft. Sill.

@dow, I'm super interested in you posting these. Rather than just a photo dump, consider posting each one separately, perhaps with something that you remember about the situation you were in when you got it, who you got it from, etc. thx! Added: I should also point that there is an evergreen thread for challenge tokens if you prefer to add yours to that thread instead of starting a new one based solely on your remembrances. @dow, if it makes you feel most comfortable then just start a new thread in this subforum for each new challenge coin you want to post. That is totally fine and gives you flexibility to take your time thinking about what you'd like to write.

I will give a go here to start. Deployed to northern Irag spring of 91. The entire AMF(ALLIED MOBILE FORCE) or as we called it, Alcohol Makes Friends" Under the command of 5th Corps. Joint Task Force Commander LTG Shalakasvile .Deployed with 3/325 ABCT out of Vicenza,Italy under the command of LTC John Abizaid, later became LTG in command of SOCOM. Defensive combat operations. Sadam was gassing the Kurt's then in the north. We were the grunts defending the "No Fly Zone. 2 KIA. Wonder if we gave them comfort. We dreaded the thought of getting a right sleeve patch for 5th Corps(Chysler Patch), we wanted the "Food Lion" patch. That is the FWTSSLI. We got the Lion. My Caserma Ederle brothers have faced many more perils since my days there. I will stop now.

ahhhh grrrrr grrrrr yahhhhh ok you grunts are allright even though you travel light and freeze at night. There's a gazillion coins out there but the ones we scored from the high brass are priceless! Let's face it getting certain coins were as good an an Army Acheivment hands down. I know about you Vicenza folks, Airborne no thanks buddy I'm Mech at heart (like steel wall protection, heat, MA - Duce mounted on top, and lots of poggee bait). Airbone watches danger area's through binoculars and says " hmm danger area" the Mech Infantry goes "whumpa whumpa whumpa wump wump wump drrrrrrrrrt drrrrrrt drrrrrt all clear Sir please proceed". Hahaha let's face it any Light or Airborne unit is tough duty and grinds you down - I tip my hat to ya. Nice coin. See that coin on my avatar...ya says Top Sapper 1992 Sapper Stakes, well we weren't we were 2nd Place runner up to a 12B platoon out of that Airborne engineer company at Vicenza. They were good dambed good and deserved to win and won fair/square the reason I still got a bug is our squad was mostly Sapper, parachutist, and air assault qualified but during those 6 days of continuous round the clock operations the Vicenza boys always had just a little more to give. We got those coins as consolation prize or whatever but fact remains that day 2nd Platoon C company 12 Enginner Battalion lost to Hollywood jump hero's out of Italy. And I'm Still Mad!
