Never really understood why this one is a Cherrypickers' variety as it isn't nearly as strong as some others that don't get that designation. But it remains a really rare variety and can go for quite a bit of money in almost any grade. If this one goes AU58 it would be POP 2/1.

That's a real nice one. Definitely a rare piece, although I agree not sure why it's CPG listed and there's so many nice varieties out there that aren't. Funny how it works sometimes.

I'm really starting to like the RPM varieties. I haven't done much research on them until lately, but I'm surprised at the sheer number of them.

It seems like the mint techs that applied the marks over the years either hesitated on the initial punch and had to redo it, or they didn't hold the punch steady and let it move slightly.

It makes me want to get out my set of punches and try to recreate some of these on a piece of sheet metal. My set isn't reversed, but it will at least help me understand the process a little better.

Thanks all! This little bugger on a nice coin was a pretty good find. Couple other minor ones for the year and yet a second is also an FS variety and double trouble to try and find one.
