tropicalbats Pillar of the Community United States 6108 Posts	Posted 11/03/2022 11:41 pm Never really understood why this one is a Cherrypickers' variety as it isn't nearly as strong as some others that don't get that designation. But it remains a really rare variety and can go for quite a bit of money in almost any grade. I haven't done much research on them until lately, but I'm surprised at the sheer number of them. It seems like the mint techs that applied the marks over the years either hesitated on the initial punch and had to redo it, or they didn't hold the punch steady and let it move slightly. It makes me want to get out my set of punches and try to recreate some of these on a piece of sheet metal. My set isn't reversed, but it will at least help me understand the process a little better.
