I'm up in the air with this seller because all his listings have bidders stating '' private listings '' . Is this a red flag or what ? I can give you the e-Bay seller if requested .

On E-Bay Anything Can happen. They do Not police, like they use to. I've seen these Private listings posted, seems they allow or invite problems, People are Known to boost up an auction and If one does their research, These " boosters " are Real. Why would the Bay do so, I guess to protect people's identity? I am NOT saying all these PL auctions are bad, just another reason to be cautious... IMO, There are Very honest people out there, On the Bay, if it feels odd in anyway, Careful................ PS, People have been known to deceive !!

I don't think that is a red flag. I've seen reliable sellers that have private listings so you can't see the bidders usernames.

I don't think it's a red flag, I've done it to sell bolt kits, gasket sets or other parts I didn't have listed.
I do agree though, there are "shell" bidders who are there just to boost sales. set an amount in your mind you want to spend and don't go over that amount if you feel like you're bidding against a shell bidder.

I don't play games on ebay. If it is not a standard listing I stay away. You can find what you want next week, most likely, without any games. My 2 cents worth.

When the listing is a "private" auction I stay away due to the potential shilling.
When the listing is fixed price I'm good to go. The only person to blame when I pay too much is myself.
