Hi Everyone,

Picked this up recently and it looks like a 109a but wanted to get some views before I send to a 3rd party.

Looks like it to me! Nice example, good eye appeal. A lot going on with this one, those were some tired dies. I'd say VF35 on this one.

Wow, can you get us a closeup of the leaf area? That may be the least amount of leaf I've ever seen. Very attractive surfaces as well. VF-35

Keep us posted with the grading results. I'm curious how PCGS will factor in the LDS into their equation. Hope they don't knock it down into lower VF, than it deserves. Killer example, really like this one.

A lot of Die Deterioration, but VF-35 seems about right. I like the strong clash above the date.

I highly doubt PCGS will knock this one lower than VF, unless a complete goon is grading that day. I am not 100% sure PCGS will attribute the variety, as there is some controversy about this particular single leaf marriage. They have slabbed obvious two leafers before, but they may have toughened their policies since.

This one looks good though. Hopefully the OP will post a closeup of the leaves.

As with NGC, no pay extra, no variety on label. It's been a Cherrypicker's paradise. They will "a" an Overton variety if it qualifies (i tried to get a "c" on one coin, but no dice).

The 1813 single leafs are controversial. Some argue if there is a single bit of leaf remaining, then it doesn't officially qualify. Personally, I don't think the $2,300 example is a solid single leaf because the second leaf is obviously present (although it is very attractive). Not sure how much it would go for today. PCGS has slabbed much worse examples. The lower grade halves usually get the designation because the second leaf is concealed by wear. High grade, true single leafs are seldom seen.

Updated rarity ratings by Steve Herrman list this late die state variety as an R-4 instead of an R-5. High grade true single leafs may earn the R-5 rating.

Got the results today - PCGS graded it VF30 and gave it the 109a single leaf designation. Quite happy with that result!

Boo yah! I would take that. PCGS and the other TPGs are very inconsistent with grading weak strikes.
