1955 no mint mark sides of penny look funny the ring around the coin on both sides what is this they both are completely around the coin and it weighs 3.1grams normal weight

it may have previously been fitted in a bezel

Like for a necklace so it's damage hen is my understanding I could be wrong unless that's what your saying

Coin appears to have been encased (within a bezel)--typically for jewelry purposes.

An Encased Coin would have the rims altered, not on the edges.
1955-No-Mint-Mark-Sides-Of-Penny-Look-Funny
I've seen the edges look like this before, so I feel it is normal for a circulated coin.

I don't think it is "normal" or a former Encased Coin. I think Mike could explain it the best.
