What can I say that others have not? Very nice find.

Actually, the incuse rim impression is a puzzle. It should be raised. But I'm considering other explanations for this unexpected feature. Nevertheless, the raised, correctly facing letters "NT" show this is a floating counterclash.

To my eyes, the rim clash only appears incuse. In the macro shot, the edges are raised, from a little distance the interior appears incuse but is not.

That will produce an incuse appearance, for sure. The medial raised edge probably represents the medial edge of the die's rim gutter, transferred from die, to fragment, and then back to die. The lateral raised edge is rough looking and might represent damage to the edge of the fragment. The 1983 "extra letters" counterclash cent also features two arcing lines.

Mike, that circular feature that is incuse on this coin, appears to be too wide to be the rim of a coin (comparing it to the actual rim of this coin, that feature looks to be twice as wide as a normal rim. Is it possible that this incuse feature be from something else (I can't think what)?

It doesn't look excessively wide to me. But I'm sure there could be other explanations for its presence and appearance.

Thank you CCF for all the congratulatory comments on this find!
It's great too knowing there is at least a little something more to hunt for in the exceedingly monotonous slogs through the late 70's cents.

I'm sure people will be searching intently for this counterclash once my article comes out.

Excellent news and congrats. Another CoinWorld magazine coin discovered and shared by a member here. (I've been waiting for Mike's determination once he got a chance to look at it.)

Looks great, thanks again Mike!
Thanks morgansdad and chase007 too!
I don't know how nicknames get assigned but since the 1983 and the 1985 have one, might I suggest a couple.. The "RoofTop Letters" or "T-in Roof" maybe?
Another observation is that the double arcing lines on the 1983 & 1985 CCL's and the 1984 examples look different from this example due to split plating.

I provided an impromptu name for the 1985 specimen, to assist folks in identifying it from photos. It's not an official moniker.
