I've been taking advice and doing some research. But just curious, in the 1967 penny, why the w and e in we are so close? Is this Machine Doubling, or perhaps circulation damage that wore letters down? I compared it to 3 other pennies from the 60s, with this one being on the bottom. And also tried to get some close up of letter Details of the coin. I went to the ref site I was referred to, but could really only find something about Close AM? Nothing to do with this penny. I also looked up Machine Doubling. Thanks!

Were your comparison cents dated 1969? In 1969 the master was redesigned, and the devices became farther from the rim.

The movement and enlarging towards the rim is just die wear. Also circulation flattening also enlarges the tops of the devices to make it look like it is wider, but it is just flattened. Take a look at the sites to see what to look for on die doubling on those years to see what to look for during your searches.

Then your eyes will know what to look for on doubled dies for this year.
