tropicalbats Pillar of the Community United States 6114 Posts	Posted 11/20/2022 9:37 pm Any time I see a possible error coin with a lot of damage, well, I assume it is just damage. The odds of an actual error getting out into circulation and becoming a parking lot coin are pretty slim. So when I saw the obverse of this one I was suspicious given all the scrape marks, but it does quite look like a minor double strike. Then I saw the reverse, and it looks bad. My guess here is that the reverse was put on a rough surface like cement and the obverse popped with a rod or some such thing. coop Bedrock of the Community United States 62064 Posts	Posted 11/21/2022 12:54 pm Note the pushed out area, you can see part of where the rim was in line with the normal strike. So as already mentioned, it is post strike damage. (I always share what I see is obvious, so more eyes will be able to see what I see on a coin) It makes it like I was there with you. Now you see it! Eye training helps in the search. You might save this for an educational piece to share with a new collector, or start a new collector. Report this Post to the Staff

Because the reverse shows the rim in its original position, and the rim removed from the obverse, that makes the coin perfectly suited to be an actual error coin. A minor indent to be exact.
