 This is just normal circulation wear and post minting dings and damage. The last A in America could be a case of a broken post on the reverse die resulting in a filled die. I assume all issues with coins are post mint damage until proven otherwise via error-ref.com, and others.

My first thought(s) when I saw all these "clips"......from the glossary Blakesley effect The weakness opposite the clip on a clipped planchet error coin. This occures during the upsetting process, because of the clip there is a lack in pressure to upset the rim directly opposite the clip. I'm not seeing any...lets see what others think.....

What clips? Those are fingers holding the coin.

No clip it is legitim from many aspects.
For the MM is not something new for this year.
If the coins has this real grain of the material, like the clips show: mean acids was involved.
Conclusion: Bad garage job.

 to the CCF! It looks like circulation damage as others have noted. The surfaces look as if this could have been a casino coin or maybe used over and over in an arcade. It's just had a hard life for a 43-year-old coin.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

I just wanted to say thank you for everyone's advice, opinions, comments, and knowledge. The time that each of you took to help out is very much appreciated. For years I have saved every coin I came across that appeared to be "different" and always hoped to find those with known errors,but I have never had a chance to really study this hobby and gain the knowledge that most of you undoubtedly have. I know I still have A LOT to learn, and I'm sorry if I caused any of you to waste time helping me find my answers about this not so spectacular quarter. Thank you all, once again.#129303;
