So just picked up these three SBA's at my local bank, after asking if they had any Kennedy half dollars, so I said I'd take em, along with a cpl rolls of Lincolns!! So immediately, I could see the difference in the rim, but being the numismaticly (don't think it's a word from Websters, but I like it) challenged collector I am, I ask the CCF for affirmation! Also, what caused the difference, wide vs narrow, is this a die variety, an error by a designer and/or employee at the mint, or just a design change for whatever reason? I'm gonna post the other 2 narrow rims that were bought with the potential wide rim

That one is a Wide rim/Close Date 1979-P Dollar. (I've never compared to see if these all have the same mintmark locations? If so, they probably were all from the same die pair?)

So there are no varieties for this SBA? After putting her under magnification, I see some doubling on the reverse? Not sure if my pics show it sufficiently, but above the eagle's left wing is the strongest area, but cam still see it in a couple other places too? Doesn't look like Machine Doubling to me (but consider the source), kinda jumped out at me and seems diff!! So if variety Vista doesn't show any varieties, are they the only place that would list varieties for SBA's?

1979-P-Susan-B-Anthony-Dollar-Coin-Wide-Rim?

I dont k ow where my photos went. If they're floating around on a different under Makeitmakecents this pertains to them! Is this a wide rimmed or thin rim? Where on tarnation was it minted bc that letter just looks like a blob! Lastly could there be a combo thick and thin rim? Any help is so greatly appreciated. Got it at my work. The gentleman paid all his bills in these dollar coins and the collecting vultures in my coworker and I swooped in! Should they be remotely valued I would like to let our customer know to stop spending them if he can. Thank you so much for those who pop in! Respectfully, MakeitMakeCents
