Shows the reliability of info from the RCM. I spoke with a rep (Tara) earlier this afternoon who told me there were no plans to have these available from the mint, only at banks, which being in the US I have no access to.

(I don't know, I didn't see them on TSC. Just asking...)

Days before TSC accidentally released this product, someone was already selling this on ebay. He could be a reseller, because he has already sold 11 out of 15 rolls. Based on product images on TSC and ebay, I believe they are Mint wrapped rolls. My order with TSC will be shipped on January 4. So the product will be officially released before that.

Are they still available on TSC or not?

Nearly five million coins will enter the national coin distribution system in December and will begin appearing gradually as banks re-stock their $2 coin inventories. Additional volumes may be produced, depending on marketplace needs. The Mint is also hosting public coin exchanges at its Ottawa and Winnipeg boutiques on December 7 and 8, 2022.

Can't find them on TSC, maybe they're already sold out. But I can get them on ebay - only $225. CDN ... oh yea, plus tax. These are nice, but at that price, a special-wrap roll is something I can live without. I ordered 2 singles for my circulation-year collection. I'll wait till the Mint announces them, or TSC gets more stock!

The Mint will post them on their site soon - likely at the average 79.95$ price. Their PR replies on Facebook say that they are waiting for "authorisation" to sell it. The TSC website likely posted it too early but will have it officially up later on.

I was able to obtain a few rolls of this toonie, has never seen a real one till today, I was expecting a dark black ring, but these looks like a very light shade of black kind of disappointment or is it my bad eyesight ? Does any one know if the RCM is using a different ring to make these toonies.

I got one from a friend today and it wasn't black to me either. It's kind of a silvery blacky-grey. When seen in any kind of light, it's not even close to black. If a person didn't know that it was supposed to be black, they would just think it was some kind of slight discoloration from nickel.

Doing some more research, the ring is mainly nickel and is electroplated with a special sauce and at a specific time and temperature will turn from a silver grey to pitch black. The RCM announcement of this toonie the pics were pitch black, that is why I was kind of shocked to see the colour of a real coin a few days ago. I must omit in low light levels the coin is or looks darker but in full light it is a silver grey, still cool but not what was advertise by the RCM
