Some one has lightly scratched into the face of this coin

"FROM MR GOOD 6-9-1960"

so now it is only worth the silver, is that correct?

PS I am not trying to sell this here, I am just looking for help confirming a fair price.

I see. So the scratching on this would make it about G4 or $36

G4 $36
VG8. $38
F12. $39
VF20. $41
XF40. $49

It has writing, a scratch and is cleaned, that makes it a details coin. Details coins have much lower value than a coin with no issues. I don't buy these, but maybe $20-$25. I paid $17 for ones (AU) in much better condition a few years ago, so I wouldn't buy yours but its not worth much more than $20- $25.

In this condition, basically a bullion coin. No real collector value.

This is a silver melt coin.

to me this coin is quite a bit more interesting than a generic circulated Peace dollar. its like a love token or a counterstamp.

if it were mine I would price it at a small premium and market it as a premium product over its non-engraved twin. I would research a couple facts about july 9 and also 1960 so that I could add some depth to its story when someone expressed interest. I think you could get money for that and for the most part I think my clientele would agree. the person who wants this isn't the same as the one who wants to buy silver based on spot.

to most its damage. to the right person it is a tangible and human connection to history.
