I have another 1984 penny that appears to have a possible mint mark error. Could this be a D over S or a plating issue? Your input is appreciated, thanks in advance. Merry Christmas

@2fo, that isn't an error but rather a hole in the copper plating has allowed the zinc core to deteriorate.

Your coin has a platting blister at the mm, zinc rot soon the follow. no mint error, just post mint damage.
