Another one I picked up yesterday. I have a couple off-metal coins but didn't have one of these and liked the looks, condition and date for this one. Plus I got it at a very good price. The coin is a 1967 quarter struck on either a 5 cent unstruck planchet or blank. When the planchet entered the chamber it nuzzled up against the collar near the LIBE, so the coin is thickest there, while tapering to a much thinner bit near the date. Also the section near LIBE has nice full reeding, with again, taper off and completely are gone on the opposite side of the coin as the metal never made it all the way across. The edge is, of course, without any visible copper. Weight is 5.04g and diameters are 23.4 roughly N-S and 23.7 E-W. 1967 Washington quarter mint error - struck on 5 cent planchet 5.04g

Seriously, this thread needed 35 images of coins other than the coin posted? It's my thread and even I almost stopped scrolling down before getting to the bottom.

That's a great pick up.
Also, look how that die abrasion and die scratches mirrors the back of his head. Very cool.

Very nice pick up! I like the heavy abrasions that Pete called out, that accompany the already great error! Very nice looking coin too, very appealing.

That is a fantastic looking error - one that all of us would be proud to own.

Thanks all! I only have a few off metal coins, but I think they are all just so neat and can see why people collect them. Generally for things outside of my main collection I like to have one great example, instead of just any example, and this one sure fits that category.
