Poll Question
I have a fair amount (dozens) of common NGC/PCGS common date Liberty and Indian $10 gold coins from AU-58 through MS-63. I've bought and sold many coins from Ian Russell back in the Teletrade days to recently with GC and have always received great service, and can avoid mailing to him since GC is a 45 minute drive from me and he will send for CAC stickers. On the other hand I've bought quite a few coins from David Lawrence and have had good customer service, but never sold through him and don't know if he submits to CAC prior to auction. If I use DL, my fees may be less, but I need to deal with mailing the coins.

I want to liquidate within 60 days, so HA and other "big houses" are not an option for me.

Now that you know my situation, please participate in the poll. Thank You.

I vote GC because they charge 10%, which seems quite fair and which I hope becomes the norm throughout the industry. Quick scan, I cannot find DL's fees, though I do find this confusing page suggesting something from 10-15-20%.

I vote GC as well. My selling experiences with them have been fantastic.

I'm a fan of Great Collections for auctions and in your personal case you seem to favor them due to distance and being able to get CAC certified, but would consider David Lawrence flexibility based on your timeframe, perhaps an outright buy or if time permits such as an auction (final realization is 80-85% of the final price realized normally) ,and even possibly with a guaranteed base price. I would at least contact them and see what they can do.

If you sell a volume of these on GC Ian might waive all seller's fees. I'd ask for a reduction from the standard 10% in any event.

Sounds like they will sell in the $1,000 to $2,000 price range each. Selling even 30 of them could easily gross $50,000. I'd have Ian view them and submit them to CAC if they have a good chance of green stickering.

Best of luck!

Even though I voted for David Lawrence, GC seems to have a greater buyer crowd to fit your limited window. Despite the economic market, the coin market is hot at the moment. So I think the figures quoted are about right, if not slightly higher. More viewers, more potential buyers being the key.

I have never bought from GC, but I have from DL. I am never selling; however, if I were selling it would probably be with GC based on comments in this and other topics over the years.

FWIW: Heritage and Stack's, among others, offer a Buy/Sell sheet for them as is, if you really don't want to wait
