The color is different because the 1943-P nickel is of war time silver alloy while the 1964 coin is normal copper/nickel alloy. All circulated War Nickels have that grayish hue. Not while you posted the 2 coin in one image is great for a reference, it would also be nice if you took individual images of each so they can be larger and easier to see.
