@ Coinfrog: do not exist any more grease for those coins. the emollient is liquid and is theoretical impossible to become solid.
This coin show a light strike which is find in thousands and thousands. It is just the ways the Mint strike. To achieve the demand they push down at 75 % forces so they can go faster. Is no errror or variety.

This is a trait that involves the whole Lincoln series. The shoulder of Lincoln on the obverse takes so much metal to fill in, it has to take it from the reverse. It's more pronounced if the planchet is a little lite, or the strike is weak. You will find this in every year from 1909 to now.

It def was a progression in the 12 it started out barely noteciable and by the end of the roll "states of" is barely visible in addition the ED in united as well as the AM are starting to fade as well!
