The first thing I noticed about the coin was the size. The front is a 1872 Indian Head penny but, the coin is at least three times the size of a regular Indian Head penny. The coin is next to a quarter for comparison. There is also a hole in the top of the coin and I already see hint of silver from the hole. On the back which I also linked the image too there is a small rectangle cut out. There is random numbers that are to worn to read that small area. On the back on the whole back there is silver spread out throughout it. I'm not sure if it's just a counterfeit but I don't understand why somone would try and do that it's just an Indian head basically 3x bigger. I don't think so but it could be some kinda error when minting the coin. If you have any idea on what it might be feel free to comment. Also if your wondering where I acquired it I bought it at a antique shop in my local area. Thank you and have a nice day coin community. Keep on collecting.

Looks like an old large cent that was on a chain or something. The large cents are much bigger than the more modern cents.

Large cents do not look exactly like the more modern cents, and in any case AFAIK no large cents were minted in 1872.

I suspect this is some kind of novelty item. Whatever it is, it's sure pretty!
