I'm considering this 1888-S Morgan. These are the seller's photos. Based on these pictures, is there any concern regarding authenticity? Thanks for taking a look. "Nummi rari mira sunt, si sumptus ferre potes." - Christophorus filius Scotiae

Nice coin and a tough one to find in MS.

I appreciate the comments. I'll see if it works out. Hopefully, it fits into the budget.

Authenticity is not a concern to me
The reverse rim at U and directly opposite at E is far more of a concern to me
Gradewise looks low MS, probably 61-62 range
I'd hard pass just due to the reverse rim.

Quote: I'd hard pass just due to the reverse rim I did notice that, but thought they were just your average rim dings. Do you suspect something more serious has happened to the coin?

Looks like a decent coin. The rim dings look pretty minor to me.

The fact that they are almost directly opposite is my main concern as though there may have been a mount there at one point (brooch style.) I would reserve judgment without in-hand inspection, but if bidding online from photos only, I don't think I'd be interested. If OP thinks it looks ok, then go for it. It's a nice coin in all other respects. Then again, I'm pretty picky when it comes to higher end stuff.
